I cannot think of a single thing I don't like about fall.
I love the colors, and the textures. I love the feel and the smell. I love fall. It is my favorite time of the year. I love cool mornings and evenings and sweater weather afternoons. I love that it is lingering this year...carrying us right through Halloween and into November. I love that although it is crisp and cool the snow is still at bay here.
This has always been family time for us. The children all have fall birthdays and for years we would celebrate in Downtown Twin Falls at Octoberfest. It was a little sad this year to see that tradition go away but there will be new fall adventures for us.
In past years everyone has come home for at least one weekend to make soups and breads and light the fireplace for the first time. This year it is just Dennis and me.
Our old maple is dropping her leaves and the boys who used to rake them up for us are now raking their own leaves at their own homes. Dennis has a new job...master of the rake!
We no longer buy school supplies for the kids but I keep loads of pencils in cups all over my office & crayons for the chance a grandbaby will stop by to color with me.
It is fall...my favorite time of year. It is a time for renewal and rest. In just weeks the snow will come and cool will become cold. I will be inside more and complain to Dennis that it is just too cold. But I will love the change.
I don't know if it makes any sense to anyone but me but the seasons changing and the world turning and my children coming and going are all related to what I want to leave behind. I want to leave a trail of creative sprinkles for them to follow and if you want to follow me too that would be wonderful because if I don't know anything else in this world I do know that there is no difference between family and friends if you are doing it right.
always,
michele
