I become calm

What happens when you create?
The exercise of creation is not limited to a canvas and paint, paper and pen or even hands and clay. We all know that creation can be expanded to include almost anything (even chaos as most of us know)
Sometimes you just see something in your mind (behind your eyes) and it is waiting for you to bring it to life. Today was such a day.
I love a day off when I can spend it doing what I love to do. I chose not to spend the day cleaning and ironing and dong the things I had to do. I spent the day doing what I wanted to do. Sometimes creating is a choice or maybe the choice is really what we create because either way I would have created something...a cleaner, tidier home or a bit of whimsey.
But today I created something to teach another day and to give away. So I can spread a little happiness around.

Let's take a Journey Lisa and I have been on a {creative journey} for the past 7 years. It has taken us to places I never dreamed I would see and we have met wonderful people everywhere we have gone.
Last year we took our journey here in the Magic Valley and took you with us for a magical experience making all kinds of art.
This year with the help of our friend Wendy Vecchi {studion490.blogspot.com} and Ranger Ink we are going to art school to learn all the exciting techniques for making mixed media magic, stamping excellence, and color art journaling. Combined with your own artistic flair you will become more of the artist you are meant to be.

Today Lisa led me to a blog I LOVE! I have not been there in months. My bad. I found a wonderful project there that I had to try tonight and now I want to share it with you.
I made a stationary portfolio with my own twist. At the end of this post I will give you a link to the original post but I am so excited I have to share.
I sewed a length of twill tape to a button through a little embellishment I made to go on the front of the portfolio. The twill will act as a closure so sew the button securely. You can sew only a button and twill but you will need to secure it to the front of the portfolio so you might consider punching two small holes through the cover to sew it to the book. I did not do this. I sewed it to the embellishment and then glued the whole piece to the front using fabri-tac by Beacon Adhesives.
Oh the inside I glued a little elastic loop to hold a pen in the spine. It is a great little place for a pen, a stylus, or other little things.
The pockets will hold cards, envelopes, writing papers, post-it-notes, etc.

Once again time is moving much more quickly than I am. I am at a loss as to why. There are still 24 hours in a day. I have not stopped doing the regular things like working and playing and sleeping. I just seem to get a little less done these days. Perhaps it is because the weather is nice and I would rather be outside than in. Or it could be that I have been doodling while I should be doing other things.
This weekend for our workshop we are creating a wonderful photo block.
This project will make a wonderful gift for Mother's Day or save it for a Graduation gift for someone special. You will learn how to use tissue and vinyl to create this really fun block.

Also this week downtown we are happy to invite you to see all the beautiful artwork entered in Magic Valley Has Art. This annual event has drawn over 100 artists from across the United States. We are a venue and have three pieces on display including a beautiful oil by local artist Darlene Meyer. Please stop by anytime this week to see her beautiful work as well as a sculpture by Brandon Thompson and a beautiful silver piece by longtime Buhl resident and silversmith Dick Morris.
We have also brought in some unexpected product to the shop. We have had so many good women ask us to bring in yarn we could not refuse. Stop by if you are looking for the new ruffle yarns. We have a small selection now but will be adding more as time goes on.

and the new Cosmo Cricket is beautiful! I feel inspired just looking at it. It is a very different line from Cosmo. Beautiful deep colors and very feminine.
